Does Consumption Of Male Fern Root Cause Heart And Respiratory Failure?
I recently had heart failure. While checking for interactions wih herbs and some of the new medications I was taking , I discovered that a herb called male fern root is a very danerous herb that can ( I was taking it) actually cause heart and respiratory failure. This herb is banned in Canada. I am wondering why a herb that is seemingly dangerous is still being sold in the US. It is more amd more commony being added to herbal cleansing formulas.
Male fern is a poisonous plant. It is commonly used to deworm. Veterinary doctors use it to deworm (tapeworms / roundworms) in animals. If taken by mouth it can cause life threatening side effects like chest tightness, breathing problems or seizures. Not all natural products are safe, over doses can cause heart problems or become life threatening.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
