Does Cystic Hygroma Have A Permanent Cure?

Hello Doctor, My name is Gokul. My sister's daughter has got cystic hygroma by birth. She is 9 years old now. She got CH around cheeks and under the tongue. She was treated with injection 3 times and surgery once. But there is no cure so far. Could you please suggest the best treatment for CH and where is it available? Is there a permanent cure for this? Waiting for your answer, Gokul.

Pediatrician, Surgery 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Cystic hygroma if it is microcystic - difficult to cure, if it is macrocystic - will respond well to treatment. The best treatment for you is injection sclerotherapy with drug called picibanil (OK432). It is not FDA approved, it is available only in japan.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
