Thanks for contacting HCM. Eating dates is very healthy though for diabetics they can raise blood
glucose. If your husband's blood glucose levels are within normal limits then eating dates in small quantities should be alright but should be done with blood glucose monitoring and it should not be regular habit. Basics of a diabetic diet are -
1. Eat frequent small meals at three hours intervals.
2. Avoid starchy, fried, sugary, fast and junk food.
3. Avoid white rice and white bread.
4. Eat plenty of fresh vegetables, salads and fruits(avoid very sweet fruits if your blood glucose levels are very high).
5. Eat nuts regularly especially almonds.
6. Eat fish( either baked, boiled or roasted) at least three times a week.
7. use olive oil for cooking.
8. Exercise regularly especially aerobic activities like walking.
9. Sleep for 6-8 hours daily.
10. Take skimmed unsugared milk, curd and yogurt regularly.
