Does Delayed Periods After IUD Insertion Suggest Pregnancy?
Hi, I am a 30 year old woman mother to a 8 year old and a 2 years and 7 months old, both born via c- section. I have an IUD, and my period is very exact, it never comes late, until now, that I´m 8 days delayed. I had a HPT on the fourth day of missing my period and it came out negative. Today (the 8th day of no period) I went to my obgyn and had an ultrasound and a sac was detected but no embryo. I had another HPT and it´s negative again. Am I pregnant or what else could it be? My obgyn says it´s hopefully a baby, because otherwise it might be a clot or something like that. I´m worried.
Having an IUD sure is to avoid pregnancy in future but not always does it prevent pregnancy. There is always a chance of getting pregnant. If sac is seen on a USG then get a UPT done again. Clot won't be seen as a sac, so we can wait and do a follow up USG in a week. Then take a call to what further you want to do.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
