Does Diabetes Cause Muscle Spasms, Fatigue And Irregular Heartbeat?
Hi my mother is recently experiencing muscle spasm on her left side of the body particularly on the legs. She has been feeling tired and get out of breath as well as getting pulpattations. She has been getting irregular heart beat and suffers from diabetes that she take insulin for. Are these symptoms due to her diabetes .
The shortness of breath , fatigue and palpitations may be related to the heart , lungs or due to anemia (low hemoglobin level) Heart disease can sometimes occur in diabetics so it is a possible complication.
She should consider a full blood count to check for anemia along with chest x ray and ECG. Further cardiac testing may also be needed.
The spasms may also be related to diabetes because it can sometimes affect nerve function.
I hope this helps
