Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I think there is a confusion. The uncontrolled diabetics have a smell that smells of acetone, roughly like a nail polish remover. And this is usually in a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis. If that is a condition your daughter has you need to get her to a hospital urgently.

The wounds of a diabetic may smell somewhat different because they are difficult to heal, and therefore get infected more easily. The infections settle slowly too. And an infected wound does smell different.

However the fact remains that the best way to confirm diabetes is using a blood test. So I suggest you test a fasting blood sugar as soon as possible. If its higher than normal than the chances of diabetes are high.
The sugar can be tested in a lab, and even via glucometer.

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
