Does Discomfort And Soreness At The Base Of The Throat Indicate Thyroid Disorder?
Hi Dr. Rynne, a couple of weeks ago I had some discomfort in my throat, like a pill was stuck. It was at the base of my neck. Now that area feels kind of sore on the inside when I press on it and it feels somewhat uncomfortable in the area in general. Also, I ve been really nervous lately, but don t know if that s related to my throat. Is that where the thyroid is and could it be something with my thyroid?
hello, it is not related to thyroid. it may just infection of throat like pharyngitis or tonsillitis. u can use antibiotics like azithromycin and painkillers like brufen for 5 days. if it is not relieved, then consult ENT surgeon for laryngoscope. disease related to thyroid rarely cause pain. generaly thyroid disease produce systemic symptoms.
