Does Donating Blood Increase The Chances Of Seizures?

I have developed seizures at about 50 yrs old. No history of it in my family. Just before they started I decided for the first time to give blood and everything was fine, Now I am not allowed to give blood, They say it is for my safety and not because my blood has Dilantin in it. My question is; Could giving blood have triggered my seizures.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Blood donation does not have any relation with seizures. However certain taken for seizure is secreted in the blood and make it unsuitable for blood donation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
