Does Doubling Of Protonix Cure Symptoms Of GERD Along With Doxycycline?
I have been taking Protonix for 1 month since diagnosed with GERD. I saw my doctor and hep rescribed Doxycycline 100mg twice a day for a double ear infection and sinusitis ( head pressure for a week ) my doctor also told me to take Ibuprofen for the pain. Should I not use the ibuprofen and use Tylenol instead. He said ibuprofen would help the swelling but I am worried about the reflux symptoms. I have a sour taste in my mouth still and feel like I have phlegm with post nasal drip. I have an ENT appointment in 4 days but am so tired of being sick. I am 26 and weigh 260lbs. Would you suggest doubling the Protonix to decrease the GERD symptoms while on the Doxycycline ? He also called in Levaquin just in case I want to stop the doxycycline. ( FYI. I am very anxious about drugs and their side effects. I usually don t take anything more than Tylenol ).
Hello. With significant GERD symptoms, I wouldn't tell a patient of mine to take an NSAID like ibuprofen since that very well could worsen the symptoms and I would say that Tylenol is a more reasonable alternative for pain
