Does Dropped BP Post Taking Morphine Suggest Being Allergic To It?
I was in hospital twice this month with lower bowel obstruction. The first time I was treated with morphine for pain and all went well. The second time when I arrived in E.R. they again gave me morphine and my blood pressure dropped dramatically. I did not get morphine again. Should I now include morphine on my drug allergy list. Thank you Jean Campbell
No. If your problem is only low BP then you can't say you are allergic to morphine. If you have symptoms like itching, breathlessness, and inflammation then ypu can say you are allergic to a drug.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dona Raj, Dentist
