Does Eating Beef Cause Elevated Cholesterol Levels?
I would like to know if eating cow foot increases my heart cholesterol level more so as I have been advice to avoid any food that hikes cholesterol. Secondly, I am categorize as mildly hypertensive. I sometimes experience irregular heartbeat or ectopic heartbeat. What is the remedy?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Cow foot contain a considerable amount of cholesterol.
For this reason, I would not recommend eating this type of food frequently (less than once in a week), because it may lead to high cholesterol levels.
A healthy diet (fresh fruits and vegetables, a lot of fibers, food reach in omega 3 fatty acids) and a lot of physical activity can help reduce naturally your cholesterol levels.
Regarding your irregular heartbeats, I would recommend performing further tests to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia:
- a cardiac ultrasound
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- blood electrolytes for any possible imbalance
- complete blood count for anemia.
