Does Eating Red Amaranth Cause Traces Of Occult Blood In A Fecalysis Report?
I had to do stool culture for 3 consecutive days. Yesterday I got my stool culture report of the first day which showed occult blood negative. Today I got the 2nd day s report which indicates occult blood positive(trace) . I had red amaranth vegetable day before yesterday. Can this be the cause of the occult blood?

Your occult blood test seems to be false positive because of intake of red amaranth. It's advisable to repeat your stool occult blood test after three days of avoidance of peroxide containing foods like: cucumber, spinach, cauliflower, meat, fish, etc.
