Does Eating Undercooked Pork Cause Adverse Side Effects?
Hello Dr. I may have eating undercooked pork roast that was cook in a crock pot. The color looked pink to me but my daughter states that is the color of pork and if was undercooked it would not fall apart. Can I take pill in case to prevent any minor to serious effects?
Your daughter may be right. However, to address your query, the main cause of concern in eating undercooked pork is parasitic and bacterial infection (if the meat was contaminated).
Parasitic infections (if present) can be controlled with early administration of antihelminthic agents (mebendazole, albendazole). Kindly see your physician for a prescription. If you develop loose stools, vomiting, fever, you may need an to ionic therapy if resolution doesn't occur in 48 hrs or if too severe (unable to eat or replace fluids orally)
Hope this helps. Please contact us if you have further queries. With you good health
