Does Elevated Blood Sugar Level Need Immediate Medical Attention?
Hello. I have never been a diabetic before but I have been feeling really bad. I took my Blood sugar before I went to bed lastnight it was 217. This moring before breakfast it was 411. I am shaking and feeling bad. I am a few hours from home with family so I can not make an appointment with my dr. Is this safe? Should I go to an emergency care clinic or ER? Thank you very much! HI
Thanks for posting your query .
You have not mentioned your age but based on your words I assume you are more than 30 years old . Diabetes after 30 years is of Type 2 Diabetes .
In Type 2 diabetes the body can tolerate high blood sugars without causing any acute problems . So it's not an emergency but you need to consult a Physician or a Diabetologist as early as possible . But just because Type 2 Diabetes doesn't cause any Acute problems doesn't mean you can neglect it . It can cause complications in long term unless it's controlled .
You need to be put on medications , start aerobic exercise and go on a Diabetic diet .
Any clarification feel free to ask . Happy to help .
