Does Elevated Estrogen Level Cause Petechiae?

I have petechiae on my legs and some on my arms. I have been using estrodiol for many years. However, in the last year, I tried to wean myself off the drug. Recently, however, I began using it as prescribed. Then came the petechiae. I am 65 years old. I had lab work yesterday and am waiting the results. Could the cause of the petechiae be the increase in estrogen from the estradiol?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Petechiae can be caused by estrogen replacement therapy. Usage of estrogen alone can be associated with various side effects at this age, so strict monitoring and regular checkups are required. Indication for estrogen are limited after 60 so use have to consult a gynecologist and follow instructions.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
