Does Eruption Of Wisdom Tooth Cause Bad Taste In Mouth?

My top left wisdom tooth has been coming through for over a year, I'm 45. It has been poking through my gum and doesn't seem to be getting any further. I've had a terrible taste in my mouth for around the same amount of time but my dentist says the tooth is coming in fine. Could the tooth be causing this awful taste?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain foul taste in mouth along with erupting wisdom tooth seems to be due to inflammation of the gum flap over the wisdom tooth as well as there can be infection leading to pus discharge..
But in case if there is no pain or discomfort associated with that area the bad taste can be due to other causes like a teeth and gum infection, side effects of medicines, post nasal drip, acid reflux etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can start gargling with flavored mouthwash..
You can chew flavored sugar free chewing gum..
You can limit intake of high aroma foods like onion and garlic..
Drink plenty of water..
Maintain a good Oral hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
