Does Excruciating Groin Pain Require Medical Attention?

I hurt the left side of my groin by getting up from a low chair under a short table. I am constantly reinjuring this area with the slightest movements. The pain is excruciating for a few minutes, and subsides until the next misstep. What is this? What can I do about it? If I should see a dr, what kind of dr should I see?

Hi

This could well be a small inguinal hernia and it needs prompt evaluation since it may need surgical repair
