Does Fluid In Heart And Lung Indicate Metastases Of Oesophagus Cancer?

Hello, my mother-in-law was treated for cancer of the osephagus a year ago successfully however she has just been re-admitted to hospital with fluid in the heart and lung. Does this mean that the cancer has spread? if so, is it possible for her to have further treatment she is 68 years old and obviously the initial treatment was very invasive? Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
she has pleural and pericardial effusion. It may be due to cancer or may be due to some other cause like low protein or infection.
She should go for pleural tapping and examination of pleural fluid. It will give you exact diagnosis whether it is due to cancer or some other cause.
Then you should take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
