Does Following HCG Diet Cause Increase In Prolactin Levels ?
I have a prolactin brain tumor and currently take cabogoline for it to keep my prolactin levels down and the tumor from growing. I first found out about the tumor when I was under a doctors care while doing the HCG diet years ago. Wasn t sure if that caused the tumor even though doctors said no. If not, I was wondering if being on the HCG diet now would cause my prolactin levels to increase? Thanks. Denise
HCG diet is unlikely to cause increase in prolactin levels. The common side effects of HCG diet includes headache, irritability, fatigue, depression, breast enlargement in men, and swelling in the feet, ankles, lowers legs, or hands.
Its serious effects include blood clot formation in the veins and allergic reactions. It is not known to cause brain tumor producing prolactin.
The exact cause of such tumor is not known. In some cases, genetic factors may play a role.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
