Does Food Allergy Cause Diarrhea And Soreness On Buttocks In An Infant?

My 5 yr old put honey gram cracker in baby newborns mouth a couple days ago.now the baby has diarrhea.has been having it all day.beening very fussy and has a sore butt red as lobster.should i take him to er? i just google honey and babies came up boluisim.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of food allergy which can cause diarrhea and soreness on buttocks. It seems to be due to allergic reaction to honey gram cracker.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for complete examination and proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe you allergy patch test, food challenge test, RAST test etc to find out exact cause of allergic reaction and can prescribe anti-allergics like Allegra or benadryl.

Give child plenty of fluids and apply cold compresses on skin.
