My name is Mitchell. I was recently hospitalized for food poisoning and three weeks later had general blood work done alone with testing for std’s and everything came back okay except for my liver enzymes. My AST and ALT levels were very high. I was wondering if that could be due to the food poisoning
Hello,my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. Common causes of mild increases in AST and ALT levels include - non-alcoholic fatty liver disease -hepatitis C, - alcoholic fatty liver disease, - medication effect . -Food poisoning is not a cause. Hope it helps, kind regards!
