Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Freezing Of Soup Help To Remove The Sodium Preservative?
I m making soup from scratch. There will naturally be a moderate to high level of sodium base preservative in the soup. After heating up the soup I allow the soup to cool and then eventually freeze. Upon freezing the top layer of the soup will consist of grease. I then remove this layer of grease from the soup. My question is by freezing the soup will I be removing some of the sodium preservative, i.e. does some of the preservative congel with in the grease?
The preservative will be present throughout the soup, so will be found in both the grease and the soup. But this should not effect the overall outcome of the soup when you freeze it, so you should be OK to re-freeze and eat at a later stage.
Do have a nice meal!
