Does Gallbladder Removal Cause Fat Accumulation Around The Abdomen?

I am 63 year old Woman of Asian origin. They took my gall bladder out in 2003. Since then I noticed that my weight was soaring and my physique is not as great as before with bulging middle part and abdomen. Is this due to my body s inability to produce enough bile or not enough of it since my gall bladder where bile is being stored is gone? What do you suggest for me to do or eat in order for my bulging tummy and abdomen shrink? Thank you and will wait for your expert advise. Angelita D Talens

Hello,

Gall bladder removal is not responsible for the fat accumulation around the abdomen. Rest of the causes as hyper cholesterolemia, diabetes, thyroid disturbances or else must be considered in this direction to fix the issue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
