Does Gamma GT Levels At 43iu/l Indicate Early Cardio-vascular Disease?
a recent blood test showed gamma GT levels at 43iu/l.I do not drink any alcohol and never did.I have anxiety hence i cannot cope with alcohol because i hate the slight dizziness it gives.I am overweight by 6 pounds,i have occasional palpitations (without other symptoms) but otherwise i am healthy. My GFR was also at 83ml/min with creatinine 67umol/l.I am 45, east european and female.I very occasionally (once a week) take 5mgs propranolol during panic attacks which are getting much better with CBT. I exercise vigorously 3-4 times a week and i eat a very healthy diet but quite high in nuts hence the weight gain.I am concerned the GT levels might indicate early cardio-vascular disease.Cholesterol is 4.9mmol/l,normal blood pressure.Thank you for any insight.
It is almost at the normal range and does not indicates any active disease process. Avoid unwanted stress and anxiety. Relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation can help a bit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr. Shinas Hussain
