Does Going Off Fmhrt Cause Hot Flashes And Mood Swings?

I just turned 60 yr. old and my gyn wants to take me off of FMHRT 0.5/2.5 mg. She says there is a risk of blood clotting. I am afraid that I will experience hot flashes and have unfriendly mood swings. What should I do? Does this make sense? Thank you, Cindy

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Although hot flashes and other post menopausal symptoms may appear after stopping hormone replacement therapy, these symptoms will reduce within a few months gradually. The risk of blood clotting should be considered and HRT should be stopped.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
