Does Having Hashimoto S Thyroiditis Cause Chronic Cough?

I have Hashimoto s thyroiditis[via biopsy and sonogram] and a chronic cough. My allergy tests are negative, and so are my chest x-rays. My cough is improved somewhat when I take Ipotroprium nasal spray, which I do qid, but I still cough at every meal. Do you think my nodules have anything to do with my chronic cough?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

No, thyroid problems are not directly related to the chronic cough. If the cough is worsened during or after eating than a gastric reflux might be another cause. Please mention it to your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
