Does Having Fibroids Post Menapause Is Dangerous?
Hi, My mum was told she needs to have a hysterectomy as she has multiple fibroids. She is post menapause for about 10 years. She is 52 now. I was worried about the fibroids turning into something else. She has 1 large fibroid removed 5 years ago and the others have grown a bit and some additional ones.

Fibroids are hormone dependent tumors of the womb. Normally they tend to regress after menopause. If they grow after menopause, there is a risk that there may be some malignancy inside.
I think this could be the reason behind the suggestion given to your mother. You can confirm this from her treating doctor.
