Does Having Unprotected Sex While On Depo Shot Cause Pregnancy?

hello I received the depo shot on nov 17 and I had unprotected sex that night. is there a chance that im pregnant? I feel like I have prego symptoms but then I believe its my mind playing tricks with me. im suppose to get the essure tubial occlusion tomorrow and I hope I can get it. I didn t know I had to wait 7 before having sex with the shot.

I can understand your concern. It is true that you should wait for at least 7 days to have unprotected sex after having Depo shot as the hormones take that much time to get organized in a way as to prevent pregnancy. The seven days after the shot are unsafe to have unprotected sex.

If it has been 2 to 3 weeks since that sexual intercourse, you can take a home pregnancy urine test to confirm if you are pregnant. You can also go for blood pregnancy test whichc is more sensitive and reliable than urine test.
