Does Headaches And Droopy Eye Brows Suggest Migraine?

A couple of years ago my right eyebrow drooped and the Dr thought I had Bell s palsy. Now if I am tired or have been working on the computer for long periods or even squinting in the sun I still feel it come down but the rest of the time it seems to be OK. However, I have started to suffer in a headache in the temple on the same side, not of tern and usually when I have had a busy or stressful time at work. This also makes my face feel numb or dull from the temple down to just below my cheek bone and round to my ear? I was wondering if it could be a type of migraine as I have never had these before? Last night the pain in my temple was very severe and made me feel sick, today it is still there but more just tender.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are experiencing numbness in the face from the temple down to just below the cheek bone and around the ear. You have frequent headache in the temple. Your past history is that a couple of years ago your right eye brow drooped. Since you are experiencing numbness you should get blood works done to rule out Lyme disease and other infections. Get CT and MRI done to detect certain sources of pressure on nerves of the face that is causing pain and numbness.

Your symptoms may be indicative of developing Bell's palsy, it's caused by swelling and inflammation of the nerve that controls the muscles on one side of the face. Get electromyography (EMG) test done to confirm the presence of nerve damage and determine its severity so that the treatment can be started at the earliest. Left neglected the rapid onset of mild weakness to total paralysis on one side of your face may occur within hours to days. Get the cause (neurological cause, neuromuscular cause, headache syndrome, thyroid disease, peripheral nerve damage) treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
