My son is 17 y.o. and his TSH is high and his T4 is normal, but his T3 uptake is High, he has severe bipolar like attitude, can t sleep at night and he is extremely fatigued. He coughs every morning till he vomits after he eats because he feels like there is something in his throat. This has been going on for three years. His father was diagnosed with Graves disease when he was 22. I was wondering what I should have ran next to see if he has thyroid CA, hypothyroidism, goiters, etc. or is this an adrenal or pituitary gland issue. It confuses me that if he is hypothyroid why is his T3 high not low.
