Does History Of DVT Cause Painful Swelling And Heaviness In Calf?
I had a DVT in my right calf several years ago. I was on Coumadin for 6 months. At times I still have some pain in my calf. Today I am experiencing a lot of swelling in my calf, compared to my other calf it s about 2 inches bigger, I have some pain, and my calf feels heavy, but nothing compared to what I had several years ago when I discovered I has a DVT. I was sitting for a long period of time today doing data entry, should I be concerned, or is this a common side effect from having a DVT several years ago.
Hi You're not giving any trauma history in the recent past so I'm going to rule out cellulitis here. Swelling and painful limbs are direct signs of DVT. You should check for tenderness or immense pain after trying to squeeze your calves. If it's positive then you should visit your surgeon and get your Doppler scan done immediately as this could probably be DVT.
