I got implanon about a month ago. I have noticed a pimply rash that has appeared on my neck right at my jawline. There is more of it on the right side than the left. I was doing a little research online and I read that this can sometimes be caused by a hormonal imbalance? Is this correct? ..and if so, could it be caused by the implanon?
Hello Welcome to healthcare magic. i have read your question completely and have understood your concerns.
Implanon releases progesterone hormone into your body. Any hormonal contraceptive be it the pill, implanon, depo injection or the coil release hormones. So, there is a possibility of having side effects with these hormones. Most common side effects with implanon would be acne/pimples, weight gain, fluid retention, breast tenderness etc. Good news is that majority of these side effects settle down over a couple of months. I would not call it as hormonal imbalance.
So, if yours is a pimply rash, you could apply Benzoyl Peroxide cream 2.5% or 5% cream once daily at night. It should help you. Further, avoid any harsh soaps.
I hope this would help you.
Thank you
