Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My roommate is complaining of anxiety, feeling like his nervous system is failing, having anxiety attacks on a regular basis, says he just feels weird with no real significant complaint. He has lost his appetite and is barely eating. He is jumpy and his legs are shaking during one of these attacks while sitting down. He has been to the Er and all the routine tests are negative. Is a hormone imbalance likely to cause these symptoms. The ER told him to go to a neurologist.
I recommend that he see his primary doctor for an evaluation to rule out medical causes. And yes, thyroid disorders can cause some of this. However, usually there is no hormonal imbalance and the cause is anxiety.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
