I just finished taking the complete dose of Z-pac..for Strep...I recieved the bacteria from my grand daughter.
our house is extremely dry..due to heat source..and we do use a humidifier. I still have a sore throat..and this morning..I felt the mucus draining..so I sucked it out..so I could spit it out..and in the mucus..there was a tinge of blood.. some looked like little specks of blood clots. BUT....I also have to say..at night..my mouth is so dry..that I awaken with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth..everything is effected by the heat..so dry and sore. Do you think..most of my problems with this now blood in mucus..and still sore throat..is due to dry heated air breathing or allergies.
Yes, I shall always appreciate your idea towards your health problem and its causes. A dry and hot weather is detrimental for nasal and oropharyngeal mucosa. This causes drying of superficial layer of mucosal layer leading to sloughing and damaging the local defence mechanism against pathogen. And pre existing allergy aggravates the situation. Most of the time blood tinged discharge and repeated attack of sore throat is seen as manifestation. It is better to use room temperature humidified air and some normal saline nasal drops to regain the normal nasal mucosa. with regards..
