Does Hypopigmentation Necessarily Suggest Vitiligo?

Hi
I just started to notice a hypo pigmented spot on my arm..I'm light skin went to a dermatologist today and he didn't think it's vitiligo yet! He said many things can cause hypopigmentations.and he gave me steroid cream to use I'm scared it's vitiligo..any advice.
