Does Improper Functioning Of Liver Cause Harm To Baby?
Hello I am 33 weeks pregnant and have just received my Liver function test report. My Alkaline Phosphate is quite high 244, my SGOT is also high 76 and so is SGPT - 91
I was asked to go for this test because my stomach was upset, i was vomiting and suffering fromcold and bodt ache symptoms.
Please tell me why is this happening? Is my liver not functioning properly and most importantly WILL THIS HARM MY BABY?

Hi. Your LFTs are slightly on the higher side. I hope S. Bilirubin levels are within normal limits and you are not suffering from jaundice, as you are complaining of vomiting. Other values indicate you may head towards Cholestasis of pregnancy. It can cause itching on body and you need a careful watch on foetal movements and your dr. may ask you for a fetal well being scan with color doppler study and no harm to fetus. But dr. may decide to do induction by 37 weeks.
