Does Infected Jaw Cause Tightness Under The Tongue And Below The Mouth?
hello I am a 22 year old male, who had had a root canal done two years ago, i recently went to the dentist and he informed me that the tooth has begun to decay and infect the jaw, and must be taken out, i woke up this morning with tightness under my toungue and the bottom of my mouth
As per your complain it seems that you have secondary decay in tooth and it is leading to Infection in jaw that might be due to tooth Abscess formation that is due to pus accumulation below the root tips of the tooth. Tightness can be due to swelling secondary to Infection. I would suggest you to consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like x-ray can help in diagnosis.
You can be advised either re-Root canal treatment of tooth or extraction depending on condition of the tooth. As of now do cool compresses over the jaw and take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and painkillers like Ibuprofen after consulting a local Physician.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
