Does Inflammatory Arthritis Cause Swelling In Lymph Nodes?

Hi, I am female 51 and have inflammatory arthritis. I take methotrexate 25mg per week and sulfasalazine. I have enlarged lymph nodes in neck, been there for a few months, just noticed slightly enlarged lymph nodes in groin. Feeling fatigued but may be because of arthritis. Last blood test showed elevated alp and ggt. Should I be concerned?

Hi,

Enlarged lymph nodes is a very common finding in RA patients particularly in active phase. However, these glands become normal during remission phase. Almost 80-90% cases of Rheumatoid Arthritis have added enlarged lymph glands.

Similarly raised liver enzymes like ALP and GGT may also be raised in RA. These raised enzymes also tend to become normal during the remission phase. Still, if the lymph nodes remain enlarged and / or liver enzymes, remain raised even during remission phase, then a careful investigation to find out some other cause, if any, should be made and if so, treatment is done accordingly.
