Does Inner Ear Infection And Sinus Infection Cause Vertigo?
I have been having symptoms of Vertigo for 2 weeks now, I went to an Urgent Care and was told my symptoms were from an inner ear infection and sinus infection throwing me off balance. I finally ended the antibiotics but still have the symptoms just not as bad.. Should I still be concerned and go back to see the doctor? My doctors office is closed on Friday s, so it d be an urgent care. I don t know if maybe I should be waiting a bit longer to see if they go away or if they might be linked to another problem. Thanks
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of vertigo since 2 weeks which could be due to inner ear infections as it leads to accumulation of wax and infection in ear. Fluid accumulation behind the eardrum leads to reduced imbalance and reduced hearing tendency.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Maintain proper hygiene.
- Put otogesic ear drops in ear.
- Avoid touching and pricking it with any sharp object.
- Apply warm compresses.
- For infection in ear oral antibiotics as well as antibiotic ear drops and decongestant nasal sprays can help.
You should consult an Otolaryngologist once and get evaluated. You should get it checked and go for otoscopic examination as it is important. You can go for drainage of fluids as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
