Hello,
Ideally multi-load insertion does not cause weight gain and weight gain is not a side effect of multiload,
contraceptive device. Weight gain occurs due to aging, lifestyle factors like diet and exercises. Sometimes taking too much carbs and sugar, full fat dairy products, red meat with fat, refined flour, taking oily, spicy junk food may result in weight gain.
Certain underlying medical conditions can also cause weight gain like
hypothyroidism, excess
cortisol levels,
PCOS, increased
insulin resistance,
metabolic syndrome, Cushing syndrome, etc. Get your wife clinically examined by a GP, get an overall medical check-up done so that any untreated pathology may be detected, and treatment started in time. She should avoid sedentary lifestyle and do regular exercises.
She should do cardio workouts,
aerobic exercises, she should do walking in the morning and evening to cover at least 1.2 miles a day. She should go for strict diet control. Take boiled food or food cooked in olive oil for a few days till weight gets controlled. Avoid taking processed food or packaged food. She should take home made simple food. Maintaining strict diet control, doing exercises and walking will help her reduce weight.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
