Hello. Irregular periods with acne could indicate the presence of hormonal imbalance. This may be comminly noticed in obese individuals and in young adults in the initial few years after first period. However, if this seems to continue for more than 6 months, it is advisable to visit the gynecologist and exclude the chances of ovarian cysts or polycystic ovarian syndrome. Avoiding oily, fatty or deep fried foods, sweets desserts, drinking plenty of water, washing the face with cold or luke warm water and avoiding excess usage of soap, using a cleanser and moisturizing the face well, using a sunscreen 30 mins before going out would be helpful to prevent acne. In case of severe acne OTC creams like benzoyl peroxide or a course of antibiotics may have to be prescribed. Start exercising maybe with 30 mins walking or gym, aerobics, running, swimming or cycling and maintain a healthy weight.
