Does Intake Of Amitriptyline For Insomnia Cause Hair Loss?
I had been on amitriptaline for several years as a treatment for insomnia, it helped a lot. I lost nearly half of my hair during this time, but attributed it to stress. I read just recently that this medication causes hair loss.Is this true? I stopped taking it six years ago, but recently I started it again for insomnia. I am very reluctant to take it as I am afraid of losing more of my hair. I am female.

Yes--Amitriptyline definitely causes Alopecia (the hair loss) as an obvious side effect. You should consult your treating physician for an alternative according to your health status that can be evaluated with an in-person visit to the Physician.
