Hi,
After going through your question I want to know-
1) Presence of associated
diabetes.
2) Is there is pain, redness of overlying skin over swollen left leg.
3) Is swelling decreases after prolonged lying down position as in early morning after sleep.
4) Any associated swelling over face, breathing difficulty, abdominal distention.
5) Associated symptoms like fever.
6) Habits like
smoking.
There are following possibilities for swelling over leg-
1) Drug induced (amlodipin) though in this case swelling is usually bilateral, and usually start developing immediately after starting amlodipin and not after years of starting.
2) Local causes like injury, infection as in
cellulitis in this case there is pain, fever redness of overlying skin .
3)
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) blood clot formation in leg veins.
4) Heart, kidney, liver diseases these cases rarely causes unilateral leg swelling and usually associated with breathing difficulties, swelling over face, abdominal distention.
Following investigations may help in management.
1) Comlete blood count, kidney and liver function tests, ESR, urine examination for infection and proteins.
2)
Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis for liver and kidney.
3) ECG & 2DEcho of heart for determining heart pumping.
4) Chest xray.
You should better consult your doctor before taking any decision.
