Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Intake Of Lyrica For A Long Duration Cause Weakness In The Legs?
a friend of mine has been on lyrica 75mg twice a day for about a year he is 78 but all of a sudden his legs have gotten weak feeling and can t walk without a walker and he was walking fine 4 weeks ago could this medicine be doing it and does he need to stop taking it.
Sorry to hear of his disease. Lyrica is unlikely to cause any significant weakness. There are more common causes of weakness like stroke, neuropathy, spine problems. This would need a detailed history and examination to know the cause.
I would suggest he should be seen by a neurologist for proper assessment and management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
