Does Intake Of Pentasa For Ulcerative Colitis Cause Profuse Sweating?
I am a 79 year old female, recently diagnosed with ulcerative colitis , and having been prescribed the drug pentasa 500 mg. x4 daily. I am experiencing profuse sweating. what would be the cause of this? is this medication an antibiotic? thanx. YYYY@YYYY
Pentosa is the trade name for Mesalamine which is an anti-inflammatory medication and not an antibiotic. It is used to prevent ulcerative colitis (inflammatory conditions of gut). Usually it is known to have side effects like diarrhoea and fever and not sweating.
Therefore, if you are experiencing profuse sweating after taking the medication it is important to consult your physician regarding that and also you need to inform them if there are any other medications you are taking to rule out drug interactions.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
