Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,I have PCOS And have been taking treatment for the same. She has first given me tabs for regularising periods and then gave a good dose of Metformin. I had good 3 cycles of treatment and hormone replacement therapy. I had regular visits to the doc to check on my Follicle. My 2nd cycle was quite good and the egg grew well. However, i got my period. Then i realized that Metformin s making my tummy bloat and causing nausea. So that doctor changed the tab to myo-inositol, vitamin D3 and folic acid chewable tabs (once a day). This time the follicle did not develop that well by 16th day and she asked me to keep having regular sex till 20th day. After that I was asked to take the pregeaterone tabs.My doubts:Is it due to progesteron tabs that i did not conceive? Can i stop them and see if I can conceive?I am feeling weak and continuos pain on my lower tummy. Is it bad?I know its too early but would I know if I check for preg now??
If you are feeling like being pregnant then you can get clinically examined by your treating doctor, get USG (Uterus and fallopian tubes) done to confirm pregnancy and wellbeing of the fetus. It will also help to rule out ectopic pregnancy, avoid penetrative intercourse to be at a safer side as it can induce early miscarriage in women who have history of pregnancy loss.
You can do a home pregnancy test with the first morning midstream urine. If you are pregnant or have early signs and symptoms of pregnancy you should stop taking progesterone after informing the doctor. Progesterone helps in ovulation. It increases the chances of pregnancy when taken in the luteal phase. It reduces the chances of miscarriage. You should not take Progesterone once you are pregnant.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
