Does Intake Of Seroxat Help In Treating Heart Palpitations?

HI! I have a lot of palpitations/missing a heart beat kind of symptoms. I went to see a cardiologist and she prescribed me concor 2.5. she says that my arrhythmia is from my anxiety because it s affecting my way of life. my therapist prescribed me Seroxat. I m really confused and not sure which one should I take or if should I take both? thank you so much for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Intake of Seroxat does not help in treating palpitations caused by arrhythmia. Concor (bisoprolol) is a heart selective beta blocker which is commonly prescribed in the treatment of high blood pressure and arrhythmia. Whereas Seroxat (paroxetine) is a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor commonly prescribed in the treatment of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders. I would advise you to take concor which is not only useful in correcting arrhythmia but can also reduce other symptoms of anxiety.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
