Does Intake Of Emergency Contraceptive Pill Cause Delayed Periods?
Hey! M After our unsafe sex my gf took morning after pill and she also tested her pregnancy by pregnancy kit thrice after 3-3 days interval. All test were negative. Her expected date was 10th of this month and now its been 7 days up. Still tests are negative and no signs of periods.
Hello, After unprotected sex, if your partner has taken contraceptive pill within 72 hours and urine pregnancy tests shows negative result then there is negligible chance of pregnancy. Oral contraceptive pills content synthetic hormones which interfere in normal menstrual cycle. Probably those hormones are the reason for prolonged menstrual cycle in your case. Wait for 4-5 days more and if still bleeding is not there then consult your primary physician or Gynecologist. Through clinical examination and treatment will be required.
Thanks & Take Care, Dr. Suraj D.
