Does Intake Of Plan B Cause Bright Red Blood Discharge During Periods?

Hi, took plan b a month ago and I did have my period after that. I experienced bright red blood which was very unusual for me. I had my period this month and also had the same bright red blood. It made me worry is that something wrong with me or because of the plan b pill I took.

I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the problem you are facing.

As a physician I would like to tell you that Plan-B is a emergency contraception and it contains high amount of hormones. Thus, there appears sometimes heavy bleeding after taking them as the hormones in your body take quite a time to settle back to normal.

Thus I would like to advise that you should keep an eye on bleeding till your next cycle and if you still get bright red bleeding or get breakthrough bleeding, then you should visit your attending Obgy doctor to determine the cause of your problem.
