Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Weight gain is a possible side effect of nearly all antidepressants, you are taking. Other side effects can include, mood alteration, fatigue,
drowsiness, insomnia, dry mouth,
constipation, etc.
Most people gain weight after starting an antidepressant, the antidepressant isn't always a direct cause. Many factors could be contributing to weight gain during antidepressant therapy in you.
- Overeating or inactivity as a result of depression can cause weight gain.
- decreased
metabolism as a result of
hypothyroidism can cause obesity & can act as predisposing factor for diabetes. However weight gain cannot cause hypothyroidism.
-An improved appetite associated with improved mood may result in increased weight.
I would suggest you to exercise & increase your physical activity, rather than changing the medication you are taking. I would also suggest you to visit your
psychologist regularly as directed.
